History 215
Europe: Ancient to Early Modern

This is a three-credit, junior-level course. It surveys the most significant political, economic, social, intellectual, and religious events and trends in Europe from the ancient Greeks and Romans (500 BCE to 500 CE), the Middle Ages (500 to 1500 CE), and the Early Modern Period (1500 to 1750). These events shaped the birth of the Modern Age (1750 to present) in which we live today. The course will also introduce you to the reading, study, research, and writing skills you will need for success at university and beyond.
